2008-12-26 Calgary Stinky New Gauge Cluster/
Stinky's fuel and coolant temp gauge seemed to be off. The values the stock meters displayed would never be accurate. So I built a quick little circuit to display the actual voltages and values.
The gauges are grounded, and positive current is supplied to them. I measured the resistance of the stock coil meters and they were 60 Ohms. So I measure the grounded sensors with 5 volts @ 60 ohms and display it on the LCD screen.
Eventually I'd like to figure out the actual tempature and fuel level in their respective units. (ie Celcuis and Litres)
The resistor roughly matchs the lowest value of the level sender. For safety, I dont want too much current going through the sender.
